THE STORY SO FAR...
We’re just getting started.
Since a young age there were two activities I remember being very passionate about:
building things and weight training.
So in 1998, from a tiny garage and with no big plans, I started doing something that I loved: Building Gym Equipment. That same passion is still with me now only in a more focused and structured form, along with a relentless obsession for Watson Gym Equipment to lead the world in the innovation and manufacture of specialist strength equipment.
Simon Watson
We start making benches from a tiny garage in Chippenham, UK.
We moved into a “proper” industrial unit in Westbury and employed a welder.
We opened a small commercial gym next to our manufacturing unit.
Watson expanded as we bought a 2500 sq ft unit in Frome, Somerset.
Started developing the now world-famous Watson Pro Dumbbells.
Consolidation of product range and the launch of the Animal range.
Invested in our first CNC machines to produce Dumbbells and components.
Bought additional units to separate manufacturing from assembly and office areas.
We launched Animal Leg Press, and began our Westside Barbell partnership.
Bought land to build an all-new bespoke gym equipment manufacturing facility in Frome.
Completed our new HQ build and purchased Mazak laser. Reserved another plot of land for development.
Opened the Watson steel processing facility and began building 3rd Watson factory. Launched Watson Pro Olympic Weight Plates.
Launched 3rd factory, joined with HQ by Watson Bridge. Purchased additional land for further expansion. Won the Queens Award for Enterprise in International Trade.
Huge investment in new machining equipment to improve value for customers and reduce lead times. New weight stack system with stainless steel badges.
Launched a brand new distributor network to make it quicker, more cost-effective and easier to supply customers all around the world.
Purchase of new 70,000ft2 additional facility for 2-year expansion plans.
