The slimmest heavy-duty collars available We have been searching for years for an extremely heavy-duty collar that is slim enough to be used on dumbbells. Bulldog Collars are great, but they take up too much room on dumbbells. We didn't find anything suitable, so we decided to machine our own! These collars are extremely heavy-duty and, when clamped down on the bar, are totally solid thanks to the two M12 locking bolts. Best of all, they are only 20 mm thick, so they will take up very little of the valuable space on your normal Thick Grip Dumbbell Handles. With the Watson Dumbbell Collars, our 16'' long, Thick Grip Dumbbell Handles can be loaded to 60 kg using 5 kg cast plates or 35 kg using 2.5 kg cast plates (as shown in the picture). This means the dumbbells are extremely compact, and you can get away with using much shorter handles than with any other collar. Our heavy-duty Dumbbell Collars are a must for anyone serious about their dumbbell training. Sold as a pair and complete with Allen key.

The only drawback is that they take a while to change over, but if I need to add a little weight they take up so little space that I’ll confess that when I’m in a hurry I have occasionally slid an extra plate and a spring collar on the end of the dumbbell handle for things like RDLs.
The collars hold the plates really securely. I have even used them for goblet squats where the collar is holding the whole weight of the dumbbell and the dumbbell is set up quite heavy, and they didn’t budge.
I’ll happily do exercises with these that I would be nervous of with lower quality collars. Thanks for an excellent product.

They may take slightly longer to put on and swap around for changing plates than a compression collar but give a good secure fit and take a fraction of the space on the bar allowing for more plates to fit on the bar

These collars are excellent. Once tightened with the supplied hex key they feel rock solid, yet they take up very little space on the dumbells leaving room for more plates. Unlike some of the other ‘space efficient ‘ collars available, I’m confident using these overhead and for hammer curls, etc. where they need to hold the weight without slipping. Ideal purchase to supplement my thick grip dumbells from Watson!
