Designed to take your overall strength to new levels! Training with thick grip bars has been around for years, but lately, athletes are starting to realise the huge gains that can be made, not only to grip strength but to all-over power by training with thick grip bars. The Watson Thick Grip Bars are extremely strong yet not overly heavy, so they can be used for exercises such as reverse curls as well as the usual larger compound movements. Thick grip training recruits more muscle fibres than training with a regular bar and is also better on the joints. This Watson Thick Grip Bar is available in 2" thickness and is 7' long. We also offer our Animal Thick Bars, which come complete with ultra-smooth revolving ends and custom diamond knurling. 7' long.

Bought the 2inch thick standard Watsons bar through gymratz.co.uk. I only have standard plates and bars including a “Beefy Bar” with a max weight of 150kg. I purchased this bar (max weight 450kg) for continued squat progression with my existing standard plates. Good option if you are of limited means and do not want to replace all your bars and plates. Also I will be using it as a thick grip bar. Going to try and get some 2inch lifting hooks for use on my deadlifts. Surprisingly versatile product! Excellent product. Really good website too.

For a while I was torn between this bar and the Animal thick grip bar but as i am trying to add more speed to my technical lifts decided that the lighter weight of this bar might assist.
Turns out to have been the right call as it is performing exactly as i had hoped. This is a serious bar in its own right.

This bar just arrived at my doorstep, and I must say it’s looking great! For everyone looking for a sturdy fat bar, this is a very great deal. It’s somewhat lighter than a normal bar (around 5kg) but can handle 400kg, but that shouldn’t bother you, and there is no knurling (knurling standard on Animal Thick bars), but that’s not the thing you should look for in a fat bar. I’m very satisfied with both this product and the excellent service Watson provided for me, and so will you !
